About Ryan Heenan

Hello World,

My name is Ryan Heenan and I originally come from the great State of Michigan. I love lots of different kinds of music but my favorite genres include jazz, funk, rock, and blues. I have a lot of musical influences such as Trey Anastasio, Phish, Led Zeppelin, The Grateful Dead, Frank Zappa, Soulive, John Scofield, Medeski, Martin, and Wood, Mark Kozelek, Pink Floyd, etc...I could go on for a while, so I will stop now.

I was in a band that toured (if you want to call it that) around Michigan for about 5 years. It was a trio, in which I played the guitar and sang. I thoroughly enjoyed my time collaborating and expressing my musical voice with my fellow bandmates. We never recorded an official album as a band but played the role of studio band for my friend Jim Outlaw. We were named Brother Moon for the project and the album "Sand to Glass" was released in 2007. That was a fascinating experience to record a real album on analog tape, and it is one of the few times I have recorded in a professional recording studio. The majority of my recordings were recorded in my home studio, and they feature me, myself, and I on all of the instruments and vocals. I love playing music!

I had lived in Michigan for the majority of my life before moving to Phoenix, Arizona in 2011. I actually got away from playing and writing music for a while to pursue my teaching career. I teach high school science, but I found myself wanting to get back into music as much as possible...I really missed it. Number One Music gave me a platform to get my music out for people to hear. I cannot believe how many people have listened and liked my music from around the world! It amazes me, and I am so grateful to everyone who takes the time to listen.

I have found new inspiration and love for the writing process and I am working on new recordings and my goal is to release an album in 2020. I will keep you posted, but until the release, I will continue to upload music for those who care to listen.
