Samantha Strachan BIOGRAPHY
Singer, dancer, actress, just a few of the attributes of young Samantha Strachan. 'Sam', as she is affectionately called by family, friends and those who get to know her well, is a vibrant bubly personality and a joy to be in the company of.
At the tender age of 9 she started singing and performing locally, honing her craft in her church choir and the then popular "Strachan Sisters" group comprising of herself and sister Ana. In 2003, at age 11, she and Ana journeyed to Hollywood, California (USA) where they entered, won and were crowned Grand Champion Performers of "The World Championship Of The Performing Arts".
The year 2005 saw her, along with her mother and sisters Ana and Danielle, returning to the USA (Los Angeles) where 'Sam' entered the "Santa Susanna School For The Performing Arts", joined the famed 'Debbie Allen' Dance Academy, and was coached vocally by Seth Riggs (former vocal coach for Michael Jackson) and Bob Garrett notable Broadway vocal coach. "My dream is to someday sing and perform for the world to see and enjoy and hopefully be loved and appreciated by all" Samantha says, "so I have tried to get the best possible training that will help me to do this".
In 2006 'Sam' starred in the movie "Pants In The Family", that appeared on Showtime TV, did a PSA for President Obama's election campaign, had a guest appearance on Nickleodeon's "Unfabulous". She has performed for the California State Senate, Dionne Warwick and, of course, Jamaica's dignitaries.
She was a guest performer, in 2008, alongside 'So You Think You Can Dance' producer and judge Nigel Lythgoe with fellow Debbie Allen dancers. 2012 saw her in the sudios of Harmony House, home of Reggae’s chairman of the board, Beres Hammond. There she completed her first formal recording, ‘I HUMBLE MYSELF’, a duet with the chairman himself. The song is included on Beres’ most recent album, “ONE LOVE ONE LIFE” and most recently (2015) Sly & Robbie productions of 'ONE STEP AHEAD' originally done by the Queen of Soul Aretha Franklyn and 'WISHING ON A STAR' by the group Rose Royce. Quite a set of achievements for this young and extremely talented Jamaican lady, whom as we say in Jamaica 'nuh buss yet'.
