Huapango There are many things that can be said about Huapango; it is so masterfully designed that it showcases a robust musical structure, maintaining transparency from beginning to end. José Pablo Moncayo, its composer, crafted it to resemble the most balanced equation. The way it begins resonates perfectly with the conclusion of the piece. On a personal note, Huapango is linked to a dear friend’s father who proudly introduced it to me as a musical landmark of Mexican culture. Sadly, he passed away not long after our visit to his lovely home in Campeche, Mexico. I created this arrangement as a tribute to a cherished cultural friendship.
