Grew up and still live in the North East of England. Learned to love music at a very early age, being shown the ways of the guitar at the age of 4 by my cousin Jack Rontree, who was a superb Rock & Roll guitarist. Sadly he is no longer with us. My first electric guitar was a Red Futurama Duo when I was 9. I have many guitars, but guitar of choice, is my Gibson Les Paul 59' Standard. Played in bands throughout my life so far and have had the privilege of meeting and working with some of the greatest musicians this world of music has to offer. A lot of my best friends I have met through music, be it fan based or other. I was Support for Peter Green with my band Bluzehouse on his comeback tour in '97 with Splinter Group. Fronted Officers Club, played guitar for Six of the Best, Six No More, The Return and Wizard in '85-'86, UK Rock Legends plus a number of years as a solo artist. Just had fantastic first visit to New york City playing gigs at The Bitter End...Bleeker street Greenwich village and Monster B's in Connecticut. I have seen many Ghosts in my life...I don't know why, but believe me they do exist ! Formed new band November 2014 " Brian Vasey's Ghostband" .....Blues Rock at its Best. Please check out www.brianvaseyghostband.com or our Facebook page, Ghostband for gig details.
B J Skeels aka Bazza Nova - bass / backing vox: Originally from London, played with the first Iron Maiden (no relation, releasing 1 album - Maiden Voyage , enjoying a re-release & 1 single - Falling), Monument (1 album - Monument) and cult band Zior (2 albums - Zior & Every Inch A Man & 3 singles) also with the Blues Burglars, Gypsy, Mongrel & other bands. He was also offered the position of bassists to the Savoy Brown Blues Band in the late 60's after depping with them for a few months. Being invited to support Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac whenever the played in Essex, which was often. They were known as Steveson's Blues Department and could be seen at playing at Blue Horizon, Wandsworth, they were even offered support on Jethro Tull's 1st UK tour. In his career Bazza has also worked with Venom, Anathema, Riot, Trouble, Skyclad, Samson, Black Sabbath, Saxon, Manowar, Yngwie Malmsteen, My Dying Bride and others and in his later years Road Runners and in Nov 2014 formed GhostBand.. www.brainvaseyghostband.com
My career from punk, (when I started drumming to the public, pretty much never having played before) to Ghost, encompassing funk, my 1st serious band called Divided Camps, then on to Thrash Metal with Legacy(I still have demos on a 4 track reel to reel), Heavy Metal with the mighty VHF Derek Lyon (Vocals) some minor interest with Radio Play on local pirate stations in London and with the 2nd VHF incarnation a hit on Pappo Ripper 's radio show in Belgium, and Music (Take it to the Limit, Vocals Graz) featured in a German film Kleine Haie, Thrash / Blues Metal courtesy of Egypt with Alan Fish (Bass) and Eric Chipulina (Guitar), leading on to a stint with Tony McPhee as a Groundhog. Representing Heavy Rock, time spent with both Paul D'ianno's Battlezone and Paul Samson in a reformed Samson with Chris Aylmer (Bass). Then a couple of dates with Eric Bell, and after a break from the skins for a couple of years, I moved up to Middlesbrough where the Northeast music scene encouraged me back. The last few years I've been playing with local bands and musicians in many different genres. Joining local metal merchants Black Rose, currently writing and recording new songs for the next album, helping out Hammer at the last Brofest in Newcastle, and depping for anyone / everyone I can, eventually meeting Brian Vasey and Barry Skeels & now......GhostBand
