BIOGRAPHY – WILLIAM CHRISTOPHER KNOTT Street Noize CoCky Born in Detroit MI, William Christopher Knott can trace his early love for music to his childhood mornings where he would wake to the sound of Marvin Gaye and Motown echoing from his kitchen. Music was an important part of his upbringing and a center point for his family in his early years. At the early age of 14, Chris purchased his first turntable and that was the start of his musical journey that continues for over 25 years. His early influences included Run DMC and The Jackson Five as they are a huge part of the sound he is known for today. With a mix of urban beats and classic melodies, he has maintained a sound that makes him unique to the industry. Growing up in the inner city of Detroit he had a lot of experiences that shaped him into the artist he is today. He became interested in rap at the age of 15 and used it as a way to express himself and to tell his life story. With his unique sound and heartfelt lyrics he began to rap at local clubs. Highlights include: Opening for Lil Wayne at the Red Zone in Columbus, OH- 2001 and opening for Franchise Boyz in West Virginia- 2003. In 2004 Chris attended the Recording Workshop in Chillicothe OH and graduated with his engineering certificate and began his recording career. He continued to express himself by writing rap lyrics, but at this point in his career he turned heavily to produce other local artists. He had such a draw with local artists that in 2004 he opened M2K Audio and emerged himself even further into the Columbus music scene. Highlights of his engineering career include: released a self-authored album in 2005- Original Recipe, TV production to include both commercials and music videos, engineered for Bizzy Bone, promoted club event at Club Icon in Indiana featuring Sirius of the MTV hit show The Real World. In 2005 he expanded M2K Audio into a successful DJ career and turned back to the turntables where it all began. The highlights of his successful DJ career include: many Columbus downtown clubs; Sugar Bar, Spice Bar, Kickstand Pub, and Captain Jacks in Newark. DJ Street Noize is known for leading Columbus trends and staying current with the music scene. He has lead the way introducing Columbus to Dubstep, a genre of electronic dance music that originated in south London, England. Its overall sound is described as “tightly coiled productions with overwhelming bass lines and drum patterns, clipped samples and occasional vocal”. Currently, Chris can be found back in the place he calls home, his recording studio. Whether recording artists, producing beats or writing original lyrics it is his passion for music that has contributed to his longevity. It is easy to trace his success back to his early childhood where he was introduced to musical influences that have a resounding impact on his successful 25 year career.
