Although a long-time Fort Worth resident, Robert calls Crawford, Texas, his hometown. He considers himself fortunate to be a member of two different country acts that have charted songs on both the Billboard and Texas Country Music charts. He has appeared as an opening act for, or performed with, Willie Nelson, Charlie Daniels, Dan Seals, Josh Turner, Eddy Raven, Eric Paslay, Johnny Rodriguez, T. G. Sheppard, Gene Watson, John Conlee, Sammy Kershaw, Lee Roy Parnell, Cory Morrow, Brandon Rhyder, Cody Johnson, and many others. His keyboard influences include Matt Rollings, John Jarvis, Benmont Tench, Floyd Cramer, and Dave Grusin. Robert's gig rig includes the Roland RD-700sx, Nord Electro 3, Hammond XK-3 (w/ Neo Ventilator Leslie simulator), Yamaha Motif ES, and the Bose L1.
Because of his love of music, Mark has been a life-long musician. He was about 8 when he started picking but it wasn't until he was in high school that he was in his first band. Their studio was a rented space at a storage facility. They had to cover the entire space with cardboard egg flats to get the acoustic value they wanted and that was where they practiced. He and his band mates played in clubs and honky tonks before they were even old enough to be in them. Since the 70's he has performed professionally with many popular bands in some Texas sized venues throughout the central and north Texas areas to include the Ft Worth Stockyards. He's a born & raised Texan so he brings an energetic southern flair to the country music of Ruby Creek. He can play anything, but he is most drawn to the timeless style of the classic dance hall music so he and the dedicated members of Ruby Creek play their way across Texas with 2 step and waltz music with a little bit of blues, some of which are Ruby Creek originals. Mark has had many influences over the years from all genres of music. Hal Ketchum, Radney Foster, Dwight Yoakum and Earle Thomas Conley along with some Stevie Ray Vaughn and Metallica to name just a few. The music of Mark Goodnight & The Ruby Creek Band is always evolving and testing new waters, never losing that traditional honky tonk sound. Its a feel good kind of thang.
