Mudflap Junior Jones
Indie Pop / Indie / Pop
Born and raised in Salt Lake City. It all started as a kid when I got into music. I first started listening to 2pac back in the 90s and his message was so deep and different in my eyes. I would look up him in so many ways and wanted to be able to touch other people’s lives with my lyrics as he did. I was about 15 when I met with the producers from 2 world’s entertainment. We did a couple tracks together and then we just completely stopped working on anything because I got locked up as a juvenile and never got in touch with them again. So I wanted to to my own thing when I got out. I got sent to Job corps in Weber basin where I would learn to paint and earn my GED. Every day I would write about three pages in my lyric book and practice my skills with the other kids attending my school. They always had talent shows that I would sign up for and take second place. I didn’t think I would win cuz there was a lot of other good artists competing against me. After I left the training camp I would land a job in the field I was in. It didn’t pay much but it was something. I knew that my music would never get done if my career as a painter was holding me back. But it was at that time when I realized that I could learn how to record my own songs without having to depend on a producer. I just remembered how we used to record at two worlds entertainment. I took that into perspective and bought some gear to start up my own home studio. I also learned how to make beats and mix tracks together. I still have all the tracks I did from back then. It wasn’t long until I met with the local rap legend Jesse James from 801 family. He invited me to start doing shows with him downtown and Moes bar and grill. That’s when my dream was being born into existence.
