    Rachel Walker

    Composer

Rachel Walker was born in the interior of British Columbia, and raised on a lakeside First Nations reserve by American missionary parents. In the small town of Fort St. James, on Stuart Lake she would listen to the local radio station where all the classic hits were played. Starting out in an uninsulated, one room shack, where the water had to be hauled from the lake and an outhouse was available for all the 40’ below Fahrenheit winter months. The rustic environment and lack of modern conveniences developed Rachel’s artistic talents and love for music. Her father a linguist had a natural ear for all instruments and played several and her mother a lovely soprano voice. Rachel moved to California with her family later in the teens years, tried out for Gong show at the local high school, but was much into sports at the time and moved on to attend college in Chicago. As the passion for music continued to evolve, Rachel returned to Canada and was asked by a friend in radio to host a radio program in Prince George, British Columbia. She later moved onto start a pre-recorded half hour music show titled in Edmonton, Alberta, titled “A Show of Hands” It received rave reviews in the area. Working on her catalogue of originals song, she performed at telethons, talent shows, coffee houses and music festivals. Offered a chance to record in a home studio, in 2000 Rachel released her first album tilted “Sent”. It was so well received, Rachel moved onto release “ Zorobabel” in 2005, working with studio musicians from the Cariboo area of British Columbia. Soon after that through various connections and friendships the Rachel Walker Trio was formed, which released two addition albums “ The Best of Zest” volumes 1 & 2. Comprised of seasoned musicians who found writing and performing to be a driving passion for a joyful and satisfying life. Many a good time was had with the band, eating, drinking and making music! After performing at concerts, music festivals, international television appearances and smaller more intimate venues, the band began to focus the majority of its resources to online fans and clients, and has since worked on collaborations with the likes of ELLIOTT RANDALL, TONY FRANKLIN, ALVIN TAYLOR, Sherry Finzer and more. Rachel enjoys combining the visual arts with her music, being an accomplished painter and potter, she also continues to release singles in video form. Rachel truly finds artistic fulfillment collaborating with international music professionals, focusing and building her catalogue of music for placement in the tv, film and music industries.
