Rock a rolla! !!

First let me say being a sufferer of depression, & knowing exactly what Seren Skies is singing about, I identify completely with the lyrics. The music is reminiscent of the Ramones,Blondie, Joan Jett, etc, great production!

Seren Skies & "Obscurity"

First of all, content. Great subject matter to write about, and good lyrics here. Great tune, it's really catchy. The Singer is good. Now let me move on to the "technical". I get to review quite a few songs here N1M. Some of the talent is primo, very good. Some tunes, I can barely stand the first 30 seconds! Reminds me of an episode of American Idol, when a family put their daughter up front to sing, telling her how great she was, and she couldn't carry a tune! I guess she was a "car-radio-singer". Fortunately for Seren Skies, she has the chops for this! And I detect a "PowerHouse" in the making ... and while I'm on that topic, really dear, you should mix those vocals more UP FRONT because you do have a great voice and I do sense a lot of POWER. Be that as it may, I want to reiterate that this was one of the few songs listed that I enjoyed and found to have a really catchy and groovy vibe to it. Good Job. Keep it up!!! -- TONY DLIVAHH

Fantastic Pop-Punker!

This is a snappy pop-punk piece. Could have been laid down in 1982: think The Go Go's meet the Tings: great harmony and a vocal lead that brings a natural, childlike brightness, like when that you're a senior and that hot freshman asks you where the cafeteria is. This is that song, the one you play when you need a lift. Distorted guitar chords and a solid beat bring the piece to life in this well balanced punker. I'm jazzed I heard it: this could easily be picked up as a part of the soundtrack for a movie. Distinctive and memorable. Well done all the way around.

Really entertaining!

well this is nice to hear, real pop rock with nice rifts and cool vocals that all fit together in a good mix of old retro and 1980's rock, just got to like it. recording sound give it a trashy punk rock sound just like the Sex Pistols would of had witch make this song really entertaining and awesome.keep up the great work and good job!

Punk Pop revealed from Obscurity.

Obscurity reminds me of earlier groups such as the GoGos or the Runaways. It has a very Pop Punk type feel to it. It has a very late 70s early 80s feel to it. If you are a fan of this genre, check it out.

That Dance Punk Drive Is Unmistakable

I like and respect almost every Genre on the planet for one aspect or more. This tune waswas a refreshing Rebel Yell for the masses. I heard a ton of old school influence that without just wouldn't give it the guts it had. The Musicianship was absolute! The vocal fit the style and the mix. You took me back there with you or aheadahead to where your headed. ~AWZ~

thoughts

I really liked this. I know all too well about depression but I also know the shit we worry about, only 1% comes to pass. I loved the line about let it fade into obscurity cuz most of it is momentary. I always like real music instead of gimmick riddled garbage where its all about what someone has. I liked the styleand structure and vocals. all put together very nicely. keep bangin

Obscurity

Seren Skies brings us Obscurity... a trite 80's style punk tribute of emergence. Unfortunately it sounds as immature and full of one takes as the music of 30 years ago. The vocal style is also inline with the type of song and it too is as raw and unrefined as the rest of the song. Other than a tribute style song this piece offers little to the listener and producers perspective at all.

Classically great

OOh. Great intro riff. Classic rock 'n' roll high school beat. The whole song is upbeat and major in mood although singing about the darker subject of depression. Feels like a great song for young folks who may feel alone in this crazy insane world. Keep up the amazing work. It reminds me of the GoGos (i think Belinda Carlisle was lead singer?) in that pre-punk new wave / surf summer season (we weren't naturally inclined that way in NYC, so it always seemed that bit more exotic that sound for me) The chorus could increase in dynamics at some point near the end, just to let it stand out more. It's a good catchy verse, be good to have it protrude in relief from the body of the song. But all in all, perfect job, good luck!

Nothing more than avarage

I get asked to do reviews for people so I feel it is my responsible to be honest . With so many people now making music and putting it online for others to hear it is becoming increasingly hard to find anything special . This song in my opinion is just another song That falls way below average. The guitar is ok but really just standard stuff. The voice is honestly monotone and without interest. There seems to be a lack of imagination in the writing and when this is the case the listener feels this and stops to be involved in the listening experience. I don't like giving artists bad reviews but if you put a song up for review it is normal that certain people will tell you the truth. There is not much more to say about this song Sorry!

pop with a grain of punk

The Obscuririty dominates with a strong pop beat and a punk oriented vocal melody line, catchy and memorable. I think the structure it is well put together, the overall sound and mix can be enhanced though. Vocals fit the genre and can come out more in the mix and you may want to play around with some effects. When recording the vocals try to think that this is the very last time you ever have to opportunity to sing this song... and give it all that you want it to be. Let yourself go rather than being conscious of hitting the right pitch. In the break I would bring the level of the guitar up as well.Keep going and you will make good song into a great one.

Obscurity

This song reminds me of Transvision vamp With a touch of Blondie and the Ramones I would say it sounds more like a happy tune rather than someone dealing with depression. I like the chorus. Nice and catchy, And the link between verse and chorus works well. The break where the drums drop out sounds a bit messy tho and the endings quite strange. vocals Sounds like a cut and paste of the first line, I think it should be sung slightly different, I think the word "Days" could be sung lower leading to a natural ending . But in general it's a good song and the recording and production sounds good . I've heard a few of your songs now and I must admit I'm warming to your voice, I wasn't quite sure at first . All the Best Steve .

Classic

This reminds me of old school rock n roll with a splash of punk in it. Really like it. Has a Joan Jett vibe to it. Your voice sounds really strong as well. Great hook in the chorus. Keep up the great work.

Yeah I´m listening as I´m writing and I´m very impressed, I lke the sound,, also the guitars , the energy of it all , and the in your face posture. What can I say It´s better than what I am, cause I don´t really have a band, and have to work harder to get a sound that is acceptable.. I can see that if you keep doing it you will go a long way and will have a bright future,, While enjoying yourself a lot. So I wish you all the best never give it up, Keep in touch if you want. Good stuff. Cheers SeaG

First I want to thank you for sending me your track to check out and give an opinion on it. To be completely honest with you I can relate to the lyrics because I have some depression myself. These lyrics are very deeply written & beautiful. Keep up the good work.

At first entering made me think of 'The Pogues' in the soundtrack to 'Sid and Nancy' great guitar and drums. Really love the title: 'Obscurity' …Some Times Things Get Ahold Of Me. Great Lyrics.

Classic 80's chick rock!!

Helpful

Nice lively start to the song, once the vocals come in it reminds me of great 80's chick rock. Nice little chorus which I like very much. You need to work on the vocals a little bit I can tell from your tone you have much more bursting to get out. Love your stuff Seren Skies! P.S. a flashy little guitar solo would have fitted in there nicely!

Pop Music with a Karaoke Flavor

Unfortunately, this song wasn't really my cup of tea, as they say. The music sounded canned, like it was machine produced, rather than actual instruments played. The vocals, although they hit all the notes on key in the song, I did not detect any emotion in them. Music is all about connecting with the listener, and I didn't feel connected to the artist in this song. Sorry...
