Hello All,
I want to say Thank You very much to all of you who have been listening to the songs, "Life", "The Force That We Call Life" and "Man With A Gun" on the album, "Continuance" I put on N1M.

For those who don't know my work, this is my 27th album and I hope y'all will want to hear some of the other albums. They can be found a lot of places like Spotify and other music streaming services as well as on Amazon for some of the past albums. You can see details of my career on Wikipedia.
I've worked with some of the most amazing musicians all over the world to create these works and one of the secrets to my albums is that I never take direction (this is a huge no no in the music business) from anyone and I never tell the musicians what to play! You simply don't tell musicians like Alphonso Johnson, Stanley Clark, Leland Sklar or the guys from Herbie Hancocks band, (who played on the album, "Rumpelstilskins Resolve) what to play, Steve Winwood and "Traffic" and Eric Clapton who all played on the first A&M album, "Contribution”. The litany of A-List players I've worked with are, at the beginning for the recording of every album, told that the basic song/chord structure is my vision of what it should sound like, now add your vision to what you think should be there. I will not record unless all the musicians that are going to play are in the same room at the time of recording. There’s no magic or spontaneous creative improvisation when each player adds to a piece of music from something played the day before, as is done by most musicians today.

Being one of the thousands of musicians who are unable to tour because of the pandemic we are living through, I am doing live streaming concerts on Facebook every couple of months. I will always post around 2 weeks in advance of a live show, so please be on the lookout for these announcements.

just wanted to let you all know I will be doing a live stream concert on my Facebook page at Shawn Phillips.
It will start at 5:00 PM EST day after tomorrow, Aug. 29th. My concerts are very different from what you normally see. I think you will be very surprised at what you'll hear. If you have the technology to take the audio from whatever device you are using into Bluetooth or a larger sound production system, I would recommend that as I stream direct from my studio. Hello to all my fans, friends, family and colleagues,

I will live stream on Facebook a full concert on this coming Saturday April 4th, at 5:00 PM Eastern Standard time. The afternoon start is so fans and friends in Europe don’t have to be up till 4 AM their time, if I started any later.

It has been suggested that I go live 15 minutes with a caption onscreen announcing the show before the concert actually starts, as it gives people a chance to notify those who want other friends to watch it.

If you have the means to get the sound from your phone, tablet or computer, into a sound system, Bluetooth speaker or headphones, I highly recommend that. My stage rig can create a lot of sound!

Hello to all my listeners here on N1M! Thank you so much for all your support, comments and questions. I WILL answer any questions y’all may have in due time, but at the moment I am in the thick of a project that will allow me to perform concerts near you, (expired link). Europe, wherever you are.

I play alone In concert, so I use what’s called a “Looper”. That means I’m recording what I’m playing on guitar in front of you in real time to a wave form of the actual session drummer who played on the song and I make loops of up to 7 minutes long, then I put more loops on top of that with other guitars and bass. In other words, I can play “Man With A Gun” almost exactly as you hear it on “Continuance”. I can also, in real time, play orchestral works, which I do, as introductions to some of my songs.

In order to do all this requires a lot of technology. Up to now, my stage set up has been close to 300 pounds in physical weight and size. All that has to go airfreight, ‘cause you ain’t gettin’ that on the same airplane you’re flying on, so I’m drastically downsizing to where everything will weigh less than 100 pounds, so I can play anywhere in the world.

I have a confirmed tour in Texas starting Oct. 11th at Poor David’s Pub in Dallas and this new system absolutely must be up and running by then, so I beg your patience and I’ll answer all questions when I’m assured it all works perfectly, so until then, I wish you all...
