Formed in Jan 2014 by Steve Dunn and Chris Davey as a 4 piece blues rock covers band with Hugh Dixon on drums & David McDonald on bass. Joined by Matt Newman on lead vocals later in 2014 who came up with the name & the branding for Smokestack Lightnin'.
Since 2015 the band has been writing original material and have released a 4 track EP entitled "On The Level" and more recently a 12 track Album simply entitled Smokestack Lightnin' "The 1st Album". Spurred on by the success of both releases and the overwhelming positive response to the original material at their live shows the band are currently working on finalising the tracks for their second album "Chapter 2" with intentions to record during the spring of 2017.
The last 12 months has proved exceptionally challenging for the band with the exit of three of the original line up in relatively quick succession. However the plan still remains the same and you can expect to see Smokestack Lightnin' perform at Blues Festivals around the UK hopefully for many years to come.
