In July 2012, Brandon Karas was approached by a co-worker at Shop Rite about starting a band. Brandon had his own YouTube page, doing guitar covers. While making a name for himself on YouTube, he had not yet been part of a band, but thought it may be time. Brandon was on board if they could find the right members. After placing an ad on craigslist, eventually, the rest of the members would be found and Soulstyce was born.

The band started by playing covers for local shows and open mic nights, with each member choosing a song to play. They soon moved to performing originals and becoming a consistent presence in the Hudson Valley Metal Scene from 2012-2014. Over time with some personnel changes and too much strain to practice due to distance from each other the band would disband. Many of the band members remained friends afterwards as this decision had nothing to do with the chemistry, relationship or creative imagery the members shared.

Despite this falling out Brandon still had a desire to create music and play shows. Since he thought of the name, wrote most of the music, designed the logo and merch which he also bought to be sold. To add, he also drove some members to and from practice and booked the vast majority of Soulstyce's gigs; he decided to take the name Soulstyce and make it his personal artist name.

Since his time in the band his music taste and talent has evolved as he had since taken vocal lessons and has a desire to be in the forefront as a vocalist whilst playing guitar in between here and there. Soulstyce's goal will be to not be defined by a sound, to be diverse in his creations while making some actually heavy metal. The sets that are now played are split in half between Summer and Winter. Summer being literally all sorts of different kinds of music and winter being metal. Live sets contain covers since not many of Soulstyce's songs have actually been recorded, however new music is on the horizon!
