About Square Bizzy
Square Bizzy, fka D-Square, born David Shepherd, is an independent, American hip hop recording artist from, Freeport, a small port town south of Houston, Texas. In the late 90's, he was signed to Rap-A-Lot Records via Scarface's imprint label, Interface. He spent a lot of time in the studio and learned a great amount of knowledge during his tenure with the legendary emcee but never released any music, underground or commercially. He decided to leave Interface Records and joined another independent label, King B Music, based out of Angleton, Texas. In 2001, he was one half of, the now defunct, Phenomenon, who went on to reach the Billboards Top 10 Singles chart, landing at #6 for several weeks, with their then hit, "Rodeo". After their short run at success, Phenomenon was no more and Square Bizzy parted ways with King B Records. Shortly after leaving King B Records, he began mentoring and working with a local rap group who called themselves, Kampfiyah. Square Bizzy still continued to record music in volume, never releasing the material out to the public. In 2014, he entered into a business relationship with Something Serious Music Group and began to record his first solo studio album. After a failure to launch in his joint business venture with Something Serious Music Group, Square Bizzy decided to cut ties, taking his label, Bizzy Boy Entertainment, with him. With the album nearly complete and limited amount of funds and resources to finish the remainder of the project, he decided to release a mixtape which combined some newly recorded tracks and some from the past, in attempts to produce enough revenue to complete the album. The mixtape was a instant success and allowed for the album to be completed as well as the completion and release of an 8-track EP and DVD documentary, 8 days before releasing the album. The album, entitled, "The Cure" was released on July 19, 2016 and was very successful during it's first week of sales, leading to a nomination for "Best Album of the Year" at an upcoming ceremony for local musicians in his area and has landed him back on the Billboard charts, peaking at #89 on the Billboard Top 200, as well as being featured in other charting categories. On March 24, 2017 --- Square Bizzy released the second installment of his "Antibiotics" mixtape series, entitled, "The Antibiotics 2" and it was met with great reviews from online bloggers and consumers alike. As of May 2017, he has publicly announced his second solo album, "(expired link). (Real N*gga Sh*t)", scheduled to be released on September 8th, which is also his 45th birthday. He will also be releasing a collaborative album, "Mass Effect", with producer, Robert Frier, under the pseudonym, Black Mass. No release date has been set for the latter.
