A killing blow to the mundane, forged from a combination of our varied influences: From Tool and Type O Negative to bands like Opeth, Combichrist, Nine inch Nails, Garbage, and Rush. The brainchild of bassist/composer Wilhelm Weitknecht, Stratosfear pulls deeply upon influences from many genres to create their dark soundscape. From Tool and Type O Negative to bands like Opeth, Combichrist, Nine inch Nails, Garbage, and Rush, the influences combine to give every song an intense personality of its own. Sounds may range from hard hitting industrial rythyms to lush orchestration, sometimes within the songs themselves. Lyrically, Stratosfear delves into the deepest of subjects, with a wide variety of vocal styles backing up the dynamics of the music.
After suffering disappointments and setbacks in his musical career (as most dedicated musicians do), Wilhelm decided to create something that he, and others like him, could truly believe in. The result is an aesthetic above and beyond what any one genre of music can offer.
