Hello music lovers! This is Nick from Syenite. This is the first e-newsletter I've ever sent so you guys are just that special!
I just wanted to tell you guys about this new song I just put up called 'Look at the Stars'. This was the fastest song I've ever written. I was playing at an open mic one night, and as I was leaving, I was walking to my car. And it was really clear that night so I was slowing down and looking at the stars. Then the prettiest girl in the world drives past me, stops, rolls down her window and laughing says to me:
"What are you doing?"
And I smiled and said,
"I'm looking at the stars. Don't you ever look at the stars?"
And then the entire song (music, lyrics, everything) came to me on the 15 minute drive home. (For reference, I usually take a few months to write a song)

Syenite is on a quest to bring back timeless music by writing startlingly original songs full of classic licks, simple folky lyrics, and just a hint of the essence of the North. Syenite consists of Nick Howell, a multi-instrumentalist from a small town on the shores of Georgian Bay who has honed his craft from the time he was tall enough to reach the keys on the family piano.
Syenite mixes classic rock with folk undertones and lyrics. Syenite writes head turning songs that showcase the technical chops of the band members, but also are catchy enough to stay stuck in your head for days. Syenite has opened for Ron Nigrini, and Kevin Fox, and has had the pleasure of sharing the stage with Joe Abbott, Kristy Freund, Ashley Wright, Cody Desroches (of the Bear Necessity's), Krista Flynn, Andy Nikkanen, David Price, and master mandolin player Robert 'Mandoman' Moreau.
