About the Diligents

It was a winter Saturday night just before the millennium in Oviedo FL. Our band had recently relocated from DE yet somehow we convinced the DJ at 104.1 WTKS, Shawn "Trippy" Fennell to play our demo "Lake Crystal Drive" to a hungry crowd. Diligent fans flooded the phone lines and emails came from Texas to the East Coast and as far as Switzerland and Italy, which led to a productive spring show schedule and by summer, Program Manager Katherine Brown quickly added our song "Soleil" to weekend rotation. Shortly after, we barged in on the John Doe Saturday show with pizza, beer and a live rendition of our hit single. So we had North and South CD release parties at One Eyed Jack's downtown Orlando FL and at our hometown venue the Woodshed/Brannigan's Riverside NJ. "Spin the Bottle" was then added as a follow up and also began to spin on 93.7 WSTW in the DE Valley, thanks to DJ Mark Rogers we became Hometown Heroes. We were also fortunate to gain popularity at the surrounding beaches from Flagler to Melbourne thanks to additional radio support from DJ the DJ and Gloria on the Native Noise hour on 101.1 WJRR Orlando and 91.3 WKRO Daytona Beach.
We were courted by several independent labels and briefly signed to the rapidly defunct Orlando Records, two lawyers who attempted to take our existing tour schedule as theirs while offering nothing in return. After that experience we continued to produce our own records and manage our own tour schedule of 100 shows per year on average. Our story progresses through the dawn of the internet, while we remained tied to small towns like Columbus GA, Wilmington DE, Burlington County NJ and Warwick RI (where we survived a near brush with tragedy). Our tour vehicle broke down twice on the way to the Rhode Island Station the night of the fatal fire, delaying our arrival and sparing our lives. Our band would return to play tribute shows at the Stepping Stone Ranch and at ReBar. Geno has personally visited the current site memorial which is a beautifully breathtaking reminder of the remembered.
Currently we live in the DE Valley where we play shows and create new music. However, our band the Diligents has deep roots in Central Florida, New England, the Caribbean and the West Coast due to our lengthy tour history. You may have heard our songs on the radio in the late 90s and 2000s before the internet explosion. We have released 4 studio albums 2 live albums and varous singles over these years and have performed over 2500 times at many Theme Parks, Colleges, Casinos and private events including U of DE, Thomas Jefferson U, UCF, BCC, Widener, Rowan/Glassboro, Johnson & Wales, Disney House of Blues, Universal Hard Rock Live, Parx, Tropicana, NASCAR at Dover Downs and Six Flags Great Adventure. You also may have seen us at venues in Philly, Jersey, Atlantic City, Delaware, Minneapolis, Maine with USCG Eastwind Assoc., the secret submarine base AUTEC on Andros Island or the Offshore Bar/Belongo/Magan's Bay in St Thomas US Virgin Islands. We are still at it, we love to play live. We have been tour support for Rick Derringer, John Kay of Bill Halley's Comets, Molly Hatchett, Larry Burnett of Firefall, Liberty DeVitto, Boyz 2 Men, Michael Graves of the Misfits, Jeff Coffey of Chicago, Dolt, Hacksaw Jim Duggan, Peyton Taylor, Nadjah Nicole, Josten Swingline, Miranda Ruesch, Mayor Mike Purzycki of Wilmington DE, State Senator Darius Brown of DE and many others along the way.
