This song brought me to a place I have not been in a long time. There are hints of New Order (at least to me) hiding in this song. I hope to hear more from this artist. I don't mind a trip back to a (modernized) 1980s feel. Never Just A Number seems a fitting name for this song, as it is very upbeat and positive sounding (unlike much of New Order or Joy Division's music!). I wonder how the sow is disenchanted when she sounds like she's having such a good time.

juice pumpin'

Helpful

I listen to a lot of instrumental and different types of electronica music and collaberations. This tune "never just a number" is one of my favorites. It pumps the juice when amplified through our 1000 watt PA System. It has a friendly and happy sound. The bass runs and ambience is phenomianal. It skips through like an animal on the prey. The strings at the end puts a stamp on the whole compilation. Keep up the work to you in United Kingdom. ....from another instrumentalist in the USA/ California

Grooving to the Beat

Helpful

A standard backbeat drum groove starts off this instrumental composition that leads into a bass synth-based groove that establishes the main musical theme. Additional musical elements and loops are brought into the track as it progresses to complement the existing groove. The chorus alters the bass and drum groove adding variety of the song. The soundscape's frequency spectrum is full but the loops don't seem to build toward a common theme musically that would improve the ending.

Never juat a number is avery high energy song. I think the tempo is great for working out and dancing. Now i am listening for the cohesiveness of the song. Not bad at all. I actually like the change ups and the mixing of several instruments to have the fullness most songs lack. Over all i think its a great high energy song.

Great instrumental

Built on a great drum track this song like all the tracks in The Disenchanted Sow catalog, has all kinds of interesting sounds and styles of keyboards to keep you engaged and of course the excellently conceived parts it's all based on make for a great instrumental!

nice piece of pop electronica

Nice pop harmonies, I can really appreciate this kind of setup you could create. Its warm friendly electronica. I am not very keen onto this kind of style, but I really can understand this style worth every penny and would definitely will have the audience for it. Some very nice tunes and interesting changes build up. By the end I think a little bit awaiting to finish at some point so maybe over built, but it`s a nice piece of track. well done.

Very musical but not bold enough for me

Many nice musical ideas here, and overall sound is pretty crisp. Just can't get excited by those "live" drummer loops that don't add much to the track and are too vanilla. Also can experiment more with sound design and not settle for presets for the melodic and harmonic instruments. Keep working you'll get there

Never Just a Number

Just a high interesting and real attacting work for me. The "Never Just a Number" from the The Disenchanted Sow gets me into a genre that always it's amazingly new for me and learn a lot of it. On this another great work it's remarkable that on a groove that for sure it's "danceable" and put you into a great mood you can discover great and very unique details that for me defines the entire work and enrich a lot it. Seems that the Disenchanted Sow has already his own sign on every work I listen from them and by now I truly believe they have a personality enough to let you know who they are when you're listen to theirs music. And so interesting for me it's the title of the work that on my point of view always it's fundamental for understand and induces what is the motivation of the composer.

Pretty Cool

Helpful

I think it was pretty cool. Though I never felt any kind of emotional attachment to any of the melodies I heard. I can't really feel what you were feeling when you wrote this piece. If there were some kind of video and this song was playing in the background, I am not sure what kind of video it should be. But as far as just hearing how you put it together and how the different instruments and melodies did seem to flow together pretty well. I'd say this song is still pretty cool.

nice synthwave melody

Helpful

the whole stuff begins with a bouncy and precise drum set, then follows a company of deep analogic like synths.. All this reminds me of the ealry Depeche mode sounds and the ones of the New Wave era, and taht's a cool thnig to listne to. The only drawback is that we have to wait 1.55 minute to have, at last, a lead synth sound that adds some extra density to the sound. This lead, a kind of string like synth sound, is good one, but too weak to face the deep background of the bass synths. Perhaps one should strenghten it or add one voice, another lead, something that gives to this track a definitive cool shape. Finallly, it"s a promising music, that deserves an extra sound or voice to exhaust its evident qualities.

Nice work on the synth work on the song. I really the arpeggio with the synth bass, created a sort of tropical 80s vibe to me. The strings on the rythmn line kept the song interesting. Keep up the good work.

Nice Sound !

Good work ! Sydney

A review of the Song 'Never Just A Number'

Helpful

The sound of the electronic instruments used in this tune is nice. However, they sound very similar to each other which makes the song monotonous. As an example if you use a real violin in a song you will try to use other instruments that are not a part of the string family in order to create a contrasting sound in the sonic outcome of your tune. Even if you changed the sound, but you either changed the register of the same instrument or you you applied an instrument which sounds very similar to the existing instrument! So, I think for a better outcome, it might be a good idea if you employ various and contrasting sounding instruments. The other point is that, you should avoid using only one or two rhythmic pattern for your drums line! This song does not seem to reach to a conclusive point which means it does not have a purposeful structure to convey a conclusive meaning at the end of the song, and instead, it only plays an aimless repetitive pattern. I hope you make amendments in your future works. The sound is wonderful and contemplative.

Very cool beat

I really enjoyed the beat you came up with. It has a 90's feel to it. The tune has a very consistent rhythm and I love the strings half way through. I would love to hear more of your music when I get a chance.
