WELL? gotta start somewhere
OK I gotta clear some things up about this tune. Long Way Home I wrote it in 2007-8, my band is The Euro-Mutts and Morris came to my studio in Walnut Bend Texas and recorded vocals and leads in 2008... I played all the other guitar tracks and bass and engineered it, Bucket Milam is on drums. this particular version was not live. But check out this review that was posted on Reverb Nation... (IMHO) It is SMOKING GOOD!
Song Review: Long Way Home
Overall Impression
Texan Morris Moon Taylor releases an impromptu collaboration with Florida-based rock band The Euro-Mutts, with this original tune titled "Long Way Home." Recorded live onstage back in 2015, this mid tempo blues number features a minor-keyed, real time arrangement that's highlighted by compelling chord progressions and searing psychedelic guitar leads, courtesy of Taylor. He also contributes vocals here, delivering profoundly cosmic lyrics in his howling baritone that perfectly compliments his wild and free guitar style. Blues and rock fans alike will appreciate the raw power and unbridled passion of Morris Moon Taylor's "Long Way Home."
Strongest Point(s)
Solid recording of a live performance, decent mix. Fantastic groove. Great descending chord progression. Nice guitar tones. Love the chorus section that begins around 2:10 and again around 3:40, really kicks up the intensity from the relatively restrained verses. The guitar solo section sounds amazing. Strong vocal performance, your delivery is well-suited for this style of blues. Outstanding lyrical content; there's a few really powerful and trippy lines in the verses, and the repeated refrain will definitely resonate with listeners. Overall, this is a genuinely sturdy song structure and a fortunate recording of an ephemeral performance that could be further refined, but can still be enjoyed as a live track by psychedelic-blues fans. Excellent work, by everyone involved.
