About The Silvers
The Silvers, a band born out of the legacy of 70s group Silver Laughter, is making significant strides in the rock and Americana genres. The band formed when Silver Laughter member Mick Orton and high school friend Tom Kelley decided to breathe new life into songs written after the original band’s dissolution. The transformation led to dropping 'Laughter' from their name and adding an 's' to Silver, symbolizing a new chapter as The Silvers.
In 2016, the band's debut album "After The Laughter" marked their official entry into the music scene, featuring 14 tracks that melded Southern Americana with Dream Pop influences. This was quickly followed by a four-song EP, "End Of Summer." The band’s evolving sound drew comparisons to iconic artists like Tom Petty and Neil Young, with influences ranging from the British Invasion to Bob Marley, enriching their music with diverse stylistic elements.
The following years saw a flurry of activity from The Silvers, with multiple albums and EPs that showcased the band's versatility and growth. 2017's "PLAY!" album, produced with Drew Youngs, featured a fresh take with additional vocals and instruments, cementing the band's creative direction. This period also marked their venture into visual media with the animated series "Silvers Surf City," although it was short-lived.
By 2019, The Silvers had produced several more projects, including "RUSHMORE" and the festive "Change Of Seasons" EP. However, lineup changes were on the horizon as the band shifted from larger collaborations to a three-piece ensemble, reflecting a more focused approach to their music production.
In 2022, two songs by the band, “Keep On Believing” and “Looking Good”, were used in the movie “Manifest West” courtesy of Michael Davenport of Expressive Artists, LLC.
The recent years have seen The Silvers navigating the challenges posed by the global pandemic, which affected their live performances and shifted their focus more towards studio work. The upcoming "Paper Street" album, produced by Stuart Epps in the UK, is highly anticipated and expected to be released in early August 2024. This album includes tracks like "Another Trip Around The Sun," a unique birthday song, and "Start Of Something Good," a mellow ballad, showcasing the band's ability to blend heartfelt lyrics with compelling melodies.
The current lineup of The Silvers includes Dain Bedford-Pugh (guitar and vocals), Mick Orton (bass and vocals) and Carl Upthegrove (drums and percussion).
Despite geographical separations, with members spread from Tucson to the San Francisco Bay Area, The Silvers continue to focus on what they do best—creating music that resonates with both old and new audiences. Their immediate plans involve continuing to produce music that maintains their upbeat and positive message, with no current plans for live performances but a strong commitment to their recording projects. The Silvers' long-term goal remains simple yet profound: to keep on keeping on, ensuring their music remains relevant and cherished in the ever-evolving music landscape.
