REVIEWS!!!
Thief of Hearts and title track Cursed Words have a melancholic end of the night feel, particularly the latter which is the highlight of this collection and combines all that is great about the Yellhounds - excellent songwriting, earthy rich vocal harmonies and a sympathetic yet understated guitar style that steadfastly elevates the band into the 'rather special' category.
Ken Foster –Strummerlive
The Yellhounds continue to produce some of Manchester’s most endearing country rock. It’s the slightly broken, but confident vocals and the band’s superb sense of dynamics that makes The Yellhounds a little more special .
Parker Knoll- Music Dash
Manchester’s very own Yellhounds are a quintet that sound like they’re from the same streets of America that spawned The Boss, but with the kind of widescreen energised splattered punk blues that could found on a mid-career album from Strummer and The Clash. This is the sound of rough and tumbling rock and roll driven by C&W and rugged bluesy guitars.
Milton Trebuchet- Music-Dash
Their brand of Americana is totally accessible; fast, catchy, bouncy and joyously expressive. ‘Forty Days and Forty Nights’ explores a language that is evocative of the USA, but their music does not take itself too seriously. Instead, they are quirky, appealingly British and fresh; not proclaiming, but inviting us to join in and have some fun, and this is exactly what the audience do.
BBC Introducing Live Review
This is a band who clearly love what they do, the music that they write, and their performances on the stage. It's this obvious passion, raw talent and belief for what they do that makes them so watchable as a group performing.

It seems easy nowadays to pass off any folk music in the public eye as 'alt-folk', but The Yellhounds take a more traditional approach. In fact, if 'MTV Blues' is anything to go by, they have no intention of conforming to current trends, and on the strength of this EP, they shouldn't do so. Brendan Cartwright's vocals excel when the tone of the band is lowered, and I honestly could've mistaken the band for Ryan Adams and the Cardinals if I didn't already know who I was listening to.
Stuart Holmes –Sandman Magazine
The dynamic old country quintet entertain us with marvelous sounding up-tempo country-rock, blues, rockabilly, Americana songs and exceptionally good ballads. This sort of Americana music is happy, infectious, recognisable and radio-friendly.
