Review of "Moving On"
There are some lovely ideas here, as the chord sequence has a nice, percussive new-wave sound in the verses, reminiscent of Joe Jackson, or some Elvis Costello, followed by an easy to digest build up in the chorus. Some of the vocals seem quite defiantly home-recorded, with a rough-around-the-edges feel to them in places, and experimenting with different timbres and textures for the vocal equalisations, hinting that this has been intentional. It is not 100% clear whether this is the case or not, but the song has enough charm and melodic infection to allow the listener to overlook this, and simply enjoy.
