My Songwriting Technique
Everyone writes music differently but I thought I'd share my basic 10 step song writing methodology.
1. Pick a key (a comfortable key for your range)
2. Write down all of the chords in that key on a piece of paper.
3. Start playing thru those chords until you find a good progression.
4. Play that progression over and over and let it move you to identify a story.
5. Put that story into initial words as you play the progression.
6. Keep going until you have a verse.
7. Play a deviation of your chord progression until you have a chorus.
8. Repeat steps 4-6 for the chorus.
9. Once you have your chorus, go back to your verse and write more verses until the story is complete.
10. You have your song!
