About Tloke-Nahuake
Tloke-Nahuake is a band that creates a fusion between the ethnic sounds of the ancient Mexico and the electric sounds of rock, progresive and metal. The origin of the band goes back to 1996 in the National School of Plastic Arts, Xochimilco, Mexico City, where the band Xiuhkoatl (blue serpent) starts making music only with pre-Hispanic origin instruments (making a record at the TV UNAM studios in 2001) giving some tours in Mexico city and some other states of Mexico.
With the birth of the new century and with the aim of realising an art performance for the concert: Freedom to the Political Prisoners! at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) it is that the new project TLOKE-NAHUAKE was born, mixing the electric guitar with the ethnic origin instruemnts. With the eagerness to construct a sound that integrates the own elements of our tradition with the echoes of modernity, the present alignment of the group it is conforming. In 2008 Tloke Nahuake records his first EP: Transmutation 2.0 making the specific sound of the Band.
Tloke-Nahuake It is a conjunction of rates and slopes, an amalgam produced by the violent shock of the culture of Anahuak in the mestization frozen in the time. The rituals and songs that remain in the memory are brought to megre to the present. The diversity of sounds produced by more than a twenty of musical instruments, from the Mayan trumpet and the snail, happening through teponaztli and huehuetl, until arriving at sax, the drums and the electrical sounds of bass and guitar, overcomes us to the emotional landscapes of the pre-Hispanic ancestors, is a victory song that resurges of forgotten annals of the time to remember its greatness to us. Tloke Nahuake is the expression of a lost and present world, pandemonuim that become harmony in the interpretation. Musical assembly that does not need explanation of its sound, but speaks in a universal language.
Tloke-Nahuake (close and together in Nahuatl language) is the expression of a lost and present world, a pandemonuim that becomes harmony in the interpretation. Musical assembly that does not look for explanation of its sound, but it speaks in a universal language.
