HAPPY NEW YEAR! So I had a dream that I was walking through a place where I used to work with an very old dear friend of mine. I asked him who is this playing on the PA System? He said, oh that's Jimmy Buffets new song. I said Jimmy Buffet doesn't have a new song. He said Oh. Songs never ever stick with you when you wake up right? This is the very first that at least I retained the tune. So, I woke up and immediately started writing down lyrics. Within 10 mins I had a song although lyrics were a bit scattered. You know like the rest of me. I worked all week putting it together. My friend Pete helped me re-arrange the words so they told a little more of a story. The song is reflecting on the past 25 years or so with my lovely girlfriend Ann and what a great life we had / and still have together. Working my way into Covid, Cancer, Aging in general and the elusive Summer of our lives and how short lived summer really is. Yes, Cancer.......I found out in early July 2020 that I had Multiple Myeloma so I've been out of commission for a bit. Prognosis is good and I have been in complete remission since late August 2020. Of course it has to be one of those cancers that will never go away it will be back, the best they can do is " manage it " Remission could be years or only months. But I'm thinking as positive as I possibly can. My voice is shot from the chemo so you'll notice a difference I have 6 more months of chemo then maintenance chemo so which is the same drugs only less. I'm hoping my voice returns so that I can at least sing better. Check out The Summer of Our Lives. Thanks
