About Tranquil
Singer, songwriter, and producer, Tranquil is blessed with a natural gift for harmony. He weaves this into an original style of alternative R&B,
creating songs that stand as storytelling pieces, offering insight into his hard-earned wisdom. Inspired by artists like Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, and Boyz II Men, Tranquil’s velvety voice is a comforting nostalgia bringing back familiar vibes of the 80s and 90s. Originally from Chicago, he comes from a background influenced by the styles of contemporary R&B. Tranquil was born into a musical family and often sang at home with his mother while his father played guitar. He learned at a young age how to sing in harmony with others. As a kid, Tranquil practiced in church choir, studied music theory in school, and even performed a solo at the ceremony for his graduating class, receiving a standing ovation as he accepted his diploma. As he grew, music continued to be a part of his life.
Tranquil entered the industry singing with the group, Precyyse, a soul trio performing all over the Chicago area. In 2003, Precyyse released their album, The Fourth Member, which was self-produced and sold over 7,000 units internationally. The impressive sales were confirmation that fans liked Tranquil’s music. He continued to sing with Precyyse, playing at colleges, parks, and even performing the national anthem for the Chicago Bulls. The group eventually disbanded as life guided them in different directions.
Over the years, Tranquil joined various singing groups, however, he always felt limited in his work with these collaborations. Bouncing around jobs, he thought he had transitioned away from making music when a new coworker heard him singing at work. This colleague was adamant that Tranquil meet his friend with a studio. Tranquil recalls the unimpressive studio, describing it as an empty room with a folding-chair positioned in front of a laptop on a stool. The studio belonged to Zyco-path, and although Tranquil wasn’t immediately impressed with the set-up, when he heard the music Zyco-path was producing, Tranquil was blown away. The production quality was unprecedented considering the tools Zyco-path was creating with. They immediately started making music together under the name Paradoxz. After the release of their first song, “Just Let Me Go,” they knew they had something. Audiences noted that Tranquil and Zyco-path sounded amazing together.
There's always room for improvement," Tranquil says, but it's hard to see where this team needs it since they are already miles ahead of the flock. Their original sound is paving the way for a paradigm shift in the industry. Tranquil is making music with legs: that will stand the test of time.
