Never give up on you're music!
Good morning. Is it ever too early to
crank up some KICK ASS music?? I think noT
! Please take a few moments and check out
this tune. It's from the first Trip
Johnson Band demo CD (Bloated Toad). This
song that you are about to listen to,(CRANK
IT UP) was born in my studio winter of
2006...approximately, when I switched over
to digital from analog. A real dream come
true to put my four track Tascam back in
it's box and fire up the sixteen track (128
virtual track) KORG. I wrote the songs and
played all the parts. This was the CD I
handed out to help potential TJB members
learn the songs. It's also when I got a
response from an ad that I had placed on
Craigslist from a guitarist named Todd
Fisher. We set a time for the audition, met
and jammed!! It was a good musical fit.
Todd and I started working on the songs and
continued the auditions for a drummer and
bassist. It took a few years, but we
finally found Steve (drums) and Peter
(bass). It was great fun working with all
of them. We quickly developed a very cool
and unique sound. Todd really waS a
walking music dictionary. He had a lot of
vinyl, and I mean A LOT of vinyl! We were
always showing each other different things
on guitar...like I would usually show him
lead scales, or string bends, and he would
show me easier ways to play rhythms. Todd
was a one of a kind original, an old school
rocker with unique new cutting edge ideas.
He died from cancer just before we we're
about to start booking our tour. I miss
Todd, and I'm a better man for having known
him. I'm looking forward to working with
some very talented musicians very soon.
Now... give a listen to "CRANK IT UP."
I will be adding more songs from the CD in the next few weeks.
