Paolo Travaglini was born in Rome, Italy on the 17th of August 1980 from an Italian father and cameroonian mother. At the age of two he left with his parents to Uganda during the civil war. After a difficult year spend in Uganda he was able to move to Cameroon with his family by God’s grace.
At a very young age, during his stay in Cameroon, he noticed a certain curiosity towards music. For example everytime a song would be heard on the radio, he was fascinated by the harmony created by the different instruments. He wanted to understand the mystery behind it.
It was during this period of time that he received his first guitar, which was a toy. He used it once in a while to mimic guitar players on tv. At the age of 9 he arrived in Belgium. At the age of 11 he became interested in piano; an interest which was born in the church he used to attend at that time, but it was a humble guitar player at the church who gave him his first guitar book; a small book with some chords and songs. The guy showed him some chords, gave him some advices and a passion was born. He used to practice so much that one time his fingers actually bled. After some time the guitar would be abandonned because of the lack of motivation, but he would always encounter some guitar player on his path that would encourage him to pick up the guitar again and try some stuff.
At the age of 16 he joined another church in Antwerp, Belgium which was mostly of african background; that was where he learned to develop his musical ear and also to actually play in front of a lot of people. A big progress was made after this move. A book entitled “SERIOUS GUITAR instruction for the serious guitar student (Intermediate/Advanced) by Michael Hoffman launched him yet to another level. This book brought him to the basics.
Paolo has ever been playing the guitar at concerts and shows all over Belgium.
To conclude, Paolo Travaglini is a guitar player who acknoledges he still has a lot to learn, but is ready to play for the glory of God every time it is possible and hopes to touch a lot of people by his playing.
