About Upperhand
Started back in 1999 as a 3-piece old school hc band, Upperhand 2005 has grown into a six headed 2-voiced metalcore machine. We write end 1999, Stefan Van Bael (aka AVB, bass) is planning to start a band.
With Bram Helsen (vocals) and Ben Cavens (guitar) he finds his two first members. Upperhand begins.
A few songs are written and at the beginning of 2000 a suited, solid drummer is found in the person of Dries Dams.
End 2001: the split of Anti-Body leads to the coming of Davy Geerts (aka Getz, chorda) to the Upperhand tombs. Just a few months later, early 2002, Upperhand attracts a second guitar ripper called Jef Haverans as sixth member to complete the machine. The new Upperhand is born.
A date is set to record a first CDemo. After a weekend in the DéStudio with Dirk Miers we present our first weapon ‘Hope for Nothing’ to the crowd in April 2002. The reviews and critics seem pretty positive and the trust is starting to grow.
Gigs with bands like Tech-9, Born From Pain, The Business, Funeral Dress, Backfire!, Unleash The Fury, Liar, Congress, No Turning Back, Kickback and lots of others, make us eager to hit it even harder in the future.
