VADE RETRO plays an urban salsa, with a raw and visceral sound. We are not interested sound like Puerto Rican or Cuban bands, because we believe that to play timba or son, there are those who know. Instead We use the eclectic mix of musical environment Bogota and musical background of the musicians whose influences are James Brown, Richie Ray, La Fania, Ray Charles, Santana, The Beatles, Jorge Drexler, Pacho Galan, Beethoven and all that on a mixed Latino base. We want different sounds and thematic approach in our songs , we don´t like cheesy lyrics of love and hate, or repetitive musical arrangements, Instead we´d like to take our listeners to a universe filled with rumba street, reality, honesty and humor.
