New Orleans, LA, January 2016 – Although Philly-bred lyricist WORDZ The Poet Emcee is in a new city these days, he doesn’t hesitate putting his hometown on the map in 2016. Following the success of last summer’s release, ‘Renaissance Man’, WORDZ The Poet Emcee, prepares to capture new fans with the release of a FREE EP, entitled ‘The Difference’. Released on Soundcloud, Reverbnation and the artists’ new website, the EP, tells a story of an underrated yet gifted emcee, and is a perfect blend of soulful Hip Hop beats and classic lyricism.
WORDZ The Poet Emcee, who has been making a name for himself in the world of independent Hip Hop the past twelve years, is eager to see how Hip Hop heads and fans will take to this new project. “I wanted to create something timeless that shows the difference between an Emcee and a Rapper. Emcees inspire and awaken the masses with their stories and with truth, while many rappers these days push agendas based only around materialism, misogny and glamourized violence. I wanted to show the difference between Hip Hop music and Rap music,“ he says. Often compared to legendary emcees such as Q-Tip and Nas, WORDZ simply sees it as a matter of honoring and building on the tradition and legacy that the icons have established. He comments, “As an artist who has great love, appreciation and devotion for Hip Hop culture, I’m here to keep the art in the music alive.”
‘The Difference’ features production by indie heavyweights Ill Thrillz, Paul Cabbin and Philly’s own Josef K. Mitchell aka SefLove of DAUS and is a much anticipated gift from the artist for those missing the originality in (expired link) first single from the EP, entitled "Hustle Knock”, available now on SoundCloud, tells the personal narrative of WORDZ’ resilence as an artist and simply as a man living in a world designed for his failure. Regarding people who have lost hope for HipHop, WORDZ says, “There are people out there who say HipHop is dead. But it isnt. She lives in the music of independent artists who have not sold out to the mainstream. Fans just have to realize and understand that independent music matters too.”

Under the mentorship of an underground North Philly rap group named, Beautiful Black Children aka BBC, WORDZ began his professional recording career in the mid 90s at the age of 15. His first album, 'Mental Replays', was released in 2003, where he gained popularity by selling his music on street corners in downtown Philly.
WORDZ is featured in numerous showcases and concerts throughout the US. This year he is giving back to his fans with the Spring release of his free EP, 'The Difference', and continues to provide listeners with music that is artistically pure and organic.
Today, the talented artist is dedicated to putting the art back into HipHop, with dreams of touring internationally. WORDZ continues to Iive his life spreading a message of peace, love and HipHop 'by any means necessary'.
