I am a live session player of; Tenor Sax, Tin Whistle and most recently an Electronic Wind Instrument (Akai EWI 5000).Each of the 3 recordings I have uploaded, feature one of the above instruments and each was recorded in a raw single take. 'Walk on by' used two single takes from my alto sax, although these were double tracked on the mix you hear.. I am happy to play in any style/genre and can always think of something to play over a bassline or chord sequence. By 'Live' session player I mean I don't play from dots. So if it's ideas you need for your incomplete song then I am your man. A good playing location can greatly boost creativity Windowless, prison-cell-like, time- pressured recording studios, smelling of stale beer and perspiration should be everyone's last resort. Whilst I prefer not to play from dots, I have written an awful lot of them into music sequencers over the years. Live playing in many differing styles and genres has given me great inspiration to generate new music. I have played in many different bands and learned that musicians can be a fickle lot. Differing ideas between band members can be constructive but all too often constructive criticism can flip into personal criticism and once that happens, it;s not long before the band implodes. Even bands that all like and respect each other, can take weeks to assemble for a practice due to their differing commitments During this hiatus, valuable momentum and enthusiasm can wane along with morale, especially id one band member appears to be not trying as hard as the others to turn up for practises and gigs.. After seeing a number of good band concepts and ideas bite the dust. I came up with the concept of 'The Concept Band'. A Concept Band has only one member who writes all the music even for instruments he or she may not be able to play. This idea is not not new and was used by composers of old,to construct the colossal columns of the classics. These days, the instruments are usually amplified and the compositions generally very much shorter. I wonder what the composers of old would have given for a computer running a music sequencer program? I now have a portfolio of concept bands that have each taken on a style/genre that is unique to them. Some of these genres are hybrids of existing genres but others are totally new. 3 of them already have their own pages on this site and there are more to upload. These bands have cut out the initial live playing phase and may even go straight to the tribute band phase in years to come. Now there's a concept! Paloma Faith is spot on when she sings "make your own kind of music - even if nobody else sings along". ...but feel free to sing or play along to mine if you want to.... Music is for sharing. Bolshevik Burlesque write in 'Grandiose' style. They specialise in bold pieces of music written for a number of theatrical musicians and perfomers. They exemplify the energy and drive of determined united workers keen to form a new fairer world, before a megalomanic dictator can hijack their energy, pervert their cause and enslave their lives. As a session player and consultant composer, I am a member of the band.

The Ballad of Sir Galahad is a raw speaker-to-phone recording that would ideally benefit from a good studio tweaking and mixing, but if you like 'Hippies in the Kitchen' as most of you seem to, then you'll probably appreciate a live recording like this. The Mass Trumpet melody is played live over a Dopez backtrack, on a Strombeleze (AKAI EWI 5000)
I hope you are all listening to my first concept band - 'The Sane Axemen' and liking their bizarre brand of Spoof Metal. They are currently residing in Hell, but enough likes might spring them into topside sunshine for a day pass out of Hell - have at look at their page...you'll get the idea.
Salba-11 has been moved to the band page of 'Los Quatros Chucheros' who are the second of my concept bands. Los Quattros Chucheros are a bunch of outlaws that play Latinesque music, somewhere near San Diego. Being outlaws they rarely play live, but want to renounce their shootin' an' lootin' ways, give up their guns and become bonafide musicians. Will you help them on the road to recovery by liking their music?

Live today the 28th May. The Sane Axemen strut their stuff on N1M. Have a look, a laugh and sing along if you will.
The Sane Axemen are a Spoof-Metal band possessed by the Devil. They made a brief appearance for a fringe heavy metal pantomime called 'Disgruntled' ....which started to become such a popular cult that 'Old Nick' spirited them back to Hell where they remain to this day shovelling volcanic lava, because there's nothing Mr D-Evil, dislikes more than A*** kissing sycophants. In their short stay topside, The Axemen had two monster hits, 'Kiss his ring' and 'Grunt and Snarl'. So mortals, locate the Lyrics to the songs under the Lyrics tab and sing along.. If enough of you like and are singing along, then , maybe just maybe, Beelzebub will reconsider the Axemen's life sentence and hatch an evil plan to send them back among you to do his Evil bidding?.
A big thank you to all my subscribers for taking the time to listen to my music and flag up your support. XasAsaX is my main page for live collaborations and covers but I also write original digital music produced on a sequencer ( A music word-processor to the uninitiated) for concept bands that as yet have no live members. This medium allows me to 'play' any instrument in any style and bypasses the need to try and arrange for a group of competent musicians to be in the same windowless sound-proofed room at the same time.....a very difficult and expensive feat I can assure you. My overall aim is to work the digital ideas into a virtually completed shape and then give them to the musicians above who can breathe life and expression into them and create live living renditions.
I have six concept bands ready to go with 3 songs each and will upload them on N1. The Sane Axemen and Los Quattros Chucheros are up so far. Each band has its own new genre. I'll send out a mailshot as each band gets uploaded into cyberspace. The new genres are quite distinct from each other and they are intended to be pioneering hybrid offshoot genres of music that I hope come over as significantly different, but only you can decide that.
