My name is Donald Porter Jr. aka Young Knowledge. I was born to Melissa Boone and Donald Porter Sr on Oct. 1 1985. Originally born in Franklin V.A. I was raised in a little town called Como. My life began in Como as early as I can remember, I was a quiet child. I really kept to myself and I excelled in my academics. Around the age of 10yrs old I realized a lot of things others had I didn't. First of all, a father. Life was rough for me as a kid going thru the poverty and being raised by a single mother I found my escape thru music. I really realized I had a passion for music around 13. Around this time my mom had remarried and I had grown close to my father known as Derick Smith aka Short Dog. He used to rap wit me and I saw I had sum skills. So from going thru everything in life and finding an escape also I decided to at least try it. So not actually taking music serious I jus used it to cope and escape harsh realities . My first time actually recording a track I was about 20yrs old. So then after hearing that first track with my vocals on it I was hooked. From that one moment in life I was sure of something. That something was music. From that day forth Young Knowledge was born. From that day on I was focused on being more than a rapper. I was destined to be an M.C. I started my race to success with an audition for Wu-Tang in Portsmouth V.A. Next I opened for Lil Scrappy and Rich Boy at the Dragway in Kinston, N.C. Still determined to get into the industry I'm here to make a name for myself and speak the real. Life as I know it was a fight every single day and nothing is free. Coming from a family of women I have a understanding side. So obviously , I choose to speak within and as well as outside my community to guide the youth. Also to give them some hope. Young Knowledge stands for exactly that. Knowledge and understanding. Wisdom is a gift because everyone can learn. I am a symbol of heart. I say heart cause it takes so much of it to do what I'm doing. My mission is clear and I will succeed. The world needs me and I need music. Young knowledge is a ghetto philosopher .
