About Yuyutopia
Inspired by Japanese poetry of the supernatural and nurtured by myriad influences from pop, electronic, jazz, classical, and contemporary music, Yuyutopia, a composer, pianist, and singer, loves crafting dream-like, mysterious electro-pop, film music, and contemporary dance music. An award-winning film composer, she leverages her extensive experience in this field to enrich her song and dance composition.
She earned a Master's degree in Contemporary Composition at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Lyon (CNSM de Lyon). Her aspiration to embody her music in the most personal way possible led her towards operatic-style singing as well.
In 2001, she was unanimously declared the winner of the professional film composers' contest held by the Céci (Centre des écritures cinématographiques – the Centre for Film Writing). SACEM invited her to compose music for a film to be broadcast on ARTE, a silent film titled "Roméo et Juliette." This marked the beginning of her career as a film composer. Since then, she has composed for fiction films, earning some international awards as a composer.
Composing music for various contemporary dance pieces and collaborating with opera singers like Maja Pavlovska and Naoko Sunaoshi on their contemporary album projects have opened up a wide range of new perspectives.
Having concluded a series of concerts for her pop album, she now focuses on composing for contemporary dance pieces, while simultaneously working on her second science-fiction-themed cinematic album.
