Many of the musicians I grew up listening to have died from either drugs or suicide. They have killed themselves. This seems to be a statistically high hazard of the rock star job strangely. I felt compelled to write this song after the death of not only Chris Cornell but also Keith Flint around the same time. Apparently suicide is the highest killer of men under 50 in the UK, our society is fatally flawed.

I once played a demo of this song to a friend who I only knew online. I didnt know them too well but they were chill and had good music taste, often putting on interesting and obscure sounds for our room to listen to. I told them what the song was about and they liked it. However this person sometimes spoke of a demon they were haunted by and one day they never came back. We are pretty sure from the things they said that it was suicide.

This song ends with the simple and overt lyrics to really hammer the message home.

This song is about the strange modern era we have been thrust into. I wrote it before the pandemic except for I think the lyrics in the bridge.

"It's a shame that things had to go this way, its real life and now we have to pay...".

The lyric "I wrote this as a fiction like a spell coming true." Is in reference to my story "Children of Isis - Welcome to Mainframe 6" which is set in a post pandemic world. (expired link)

Although at the time I must have been referring to the world becoming more dystopian and tech obsessed, it turns out I was right about the idea of a virus being used to control the global population. Something I thought was probably far fetched for a long time but made a good story.

This track has a 90s alt-rock feel to some of it which is part of the overall metaphor and message that we wont go back to how things were and can only FFWD.

I'm glad that you reading this right now have stumbled upon my music and have decided to remain updated on my forthcoming works. I will continue to put up tracks from my **Dragon Emperor** project when I feel they are "ready."
However as I am releasing them track by track I have yet to assess the complete work as a whole and when I do, I plan to get the album professionally mastered using rack and valve gear, I'm already using as much valve equipment as I can and want get more of that analog warmth. I will also probably make minor OCD adjustments to certain parts and mixing of the tunes.

So yeah turn it up LOUD and keep the FAITH!

PURGATORY

I was getting the tattoo done. The Queen of the Underworld. Half had been completed and had the second session booked. Yet the fates decreed that whilst I was riding around trying to save up money to get her finished, on her sacred night of Halloween 2018, a driver who was half asleep at the wheel cut directly across my lane. I could have been killed and was off the road for a few months. This song was written the following year and expresses how I felt. It took a few years to get a settlement for my crash, and its safe to say in that time I felt like I was in some purgatorial limbo. However I rose to the trial and got back on the bike and went to work, even throughout the pandemic and even after police later took my bike. Getting back on the horse no matter what happened, and it finally paid off. I overcame a bad situation and a test of faith in myself and the gods themselves.
