Singer, Songwriter and Actress, I AM TRA started at the age of 13 traveling with Los Angeles Music Academy Gospel Choir.
The LA Famous Gospel Choir opened up at the HOB on Sunset Gospel Brunches. I AM TRA became the host of the (expired link). at Disneyland Sunday Gospel Brunch.
She is now a member of "Ladies of Esther" Jillian, Trameka and Joi an anointed female trio gospel new artist nominees for various Gospel Awards. Ladies of Esther have performed an open the last few years in Las Vegas at the Stellar Awards. Gaining these three amazing and anointed vocalist new artist interviews and radio airplays throughout the country on the east and west coast. They were recently featured artist on Praise with "Get Up" Erica Campbell, Prayze Factor Awards 2019, Tony D On The Radio and Tamika Hall Podcast Show.

I have always had a deep love and passion for the arts, as far back as I can remember. Mama said as a toddler I loved to sing and dance to the "Beatles". She wrote in my baby book that I came home so excited one day yelling " I went to the AUDI TODY Today Mama". She had no ideal what I was talking about, but she finally realized I was talking about the school auditorium, I saw someone on Stage for the 1st time. So, the love to perform on stage began, in elementary school I won my 1st Talent Show reciting a poem about Harriet Tubman. In Newark, NJ I won my second talent show, at Abington School singing Oneless Bell To Answer. At Garfield School I got lead role playing Billie Holiday, our class put on a full production of Lady Sings The Blues.

When I moved from NJ to VA my whole musical and acting experience really took off, 1st students at Dozier Middle & I attended Denbigh High. I had several courses in music, choir and guitar classes, in guitar class I finally got a chance as I performed a guitar solo and sang my childhood "Beatles" song " Yesterday". Music was my favorite subject and when I met Steve Miller Band and Famous WOOTEN Brothers, singer/songwriter/keyboardist Joseph Wooten "Hands of Soul". He was my classmate, and we were in several musical classes together. In middle school he played for me & two girlfriends and we won the talent show singing "It Was A Sad Day, When Toby Went Away". I sang me 1st solo in middle school concert choir
"Wade In The Water". And Joseph played for me again when I got my 1st Standing Ovation at a school concert singing "Inseparable" by Natalie Cole. Joe and I performed a couple of duets " Too Much Too Little, Too Late" &
"Where Is The Love" a Donny Hathaway & Roberta Flack classic. But, meeting the rest of Joe's extremely talents brothers opened my eyes to the world & love for Jazz. I adored his entire family including his parents, but especially his late brother Saxophonist Rudy Wooten. The saxophone became my favorite musical instrument, and Rudy could play two sax at one time.

At 13 my mother brought me Aretha Franklin's "Amazing Grace" album, yes album LOL! Being raised Catholic I had Never heard music like Gospel, real Soul Music. Since I became a Christian, November 17, 1983, when I moved to Culver City at 22 I joined a local church. I joined the church choir and sang my 1st church solo, " Amazing Grace". I decided early as a babe in Christ to learn the Word of God, to study God’s Holy Word by getting involved in Women weekly Bible Study Groups, Sunday School, Wednesday or Thursday Midweek Bible Study Groups.
I trained in musical vocal training at Los Angeles Community College. And had private lessons with Diane Gordon and Tommy Tee Thomas. UCLA Vocal Training with Seth Riggs Music Coach to the Stars. I took other courses at UCLA Entertainment Extension & Business Technical School, UCLA ASCAP and SONGSALIVE Seminar. I took Professional Business Classes at LA Economics Business for Women, SCORE in Los Angeles, CA, VA SBA at Thomas Nelson Community College

PROFESSIONAL MINISTRY WORK
LA COUNCIL OF PRISON FELLOWSHIP MINISTRY COMMITTEE – 2 Years 1985-1987
I was responsible for assisting the Director Mr. Brian Kennedy by creating ideals to improve outreach ministry to Ventura Youth Prison and Project Angel Tree. I developed and started a Pen pal Ministry with the Youth at Ventura. And as a PF Angel Tree Coordinator to several churches in Los Angeles County, I got co-workers at UCLA involved and for five years they purchased two gifts for inmates children. I coordinated annual gospel concerts, one year Rev. Norman Hutchins, his band and choir did a Angel Tree Benefits Gospel Concert. And I also had the children choir sing, feed the children lunch and gave the children two gifts in their incarcerated parents name.

I auditioned for Rev. Norman Hutchins, not realizing he was the songwriter & artist who recorded one of my favorite songs "Press Toward The Mark" it got me through an extremely difficult period of depression in my life. I left my husband with two sons to raise alone (expired link). Aretha Franklin's "Amazing Grace" won me a spot to start singing Gospel professionally.
Sang with Rev. Hutchins for several years in his LA Praise Ensemble Group, we sang on BET Bobby Jones Gospel in Las Vegas, and we opened for Fred Hammond at The LA Wilshire Ebell Theatre, West Angeles Church of God in Christ Literacy Event, we performed throughout Los Angeles at various churches, concerts and venues.

I learned how to contract the Mass Media in Local Record Shops, Gospel Radio, Christian Magazines & local LA County Newspapers. Learned Advertising, Public Relations, Marketing and Promoting Artist New Music Project, creating and mailing One sheets which included Artists Professional Pictures and Biographies. Administration skills answering calls, typing, emailing, creating promotional gospel concert flyers & posters. Later, I used those skills to obtain Entertainment Permits for the children at my church under eighteen, to perform.

My oldest son and I became members of the HOB Gospel Choir Roster under the Direction of Fred Martin in (expired link)., CA off Sunset Blvd. We sang in the Barbra Streisand's Timeless Tour Concert at The Staples Center in Los Angeles, CA.
EDUCATION
I obtain and was certified as a TV Producer for Media One Cable TV and was the camera person for various Cable Television Shows. I performed as a soloist and with my son on various Cox, Media and Continental Cable TV Shows in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, Compton and Inglewood California. Featured Artist Spotlight and Showcased my music, and performed live on several local California Radio Stations. Also, did several Hampton Roads Virginia Artist Spotlights HU Build A Better World, and Radio Host in Norfolk Readywriter.

Also, my oldest son Darryl and I performed at various venues like Marine Del Rey old Creole Hot Spot Aunt Kizzy's Back Porch, opened for Daryl Coley in Concert in LA, Darryl & we were featured artist at a Gospel Concert at Cerritos Civic Center, also performed at JohnNay's Gospel Cafe in Cerritos, Huge Community Outdoor Gospel Concert GOSPELDAY with California Radio Stations KKLA, KTYM , KJLH at Universal City Walk.

I also sang in musical concert & workshops with the late and great Walter Hawkins in Inglewood, CA, Daryl Coley in Compton, CA with Kurt Carr. Additional Gospel Workshop & Concert with Rev. Ronald Materre and Chester (expired link). Baldwin in Virginia, I was the Coordinator with the late Music Director Ross Haley. In Los Angeles, CA with Tommy Tee Thomas sang for Andre & Sandra Crouch as finalist in the Mc'Donald's Gospel Festival, rehearsal at the late Donna Summers Recording Studio in Hollywood, CA. Tommy Tee & Company performed at Marla Gibbs Memory Lane, various concerts, venues and churches throughout California. Tommy was my private vocal coach, he had written several incredible songs for me. Tommy was the first one who took me into a professional recording studio in Hollywood for the first time at 22 yrs old. My first professional performance was at a concert Tommy had in Hollywood, I performed two Luther Vandross classics. Tommy invited Marvin Gaye's personal Manager to come hear me during our soundcheck. I sang with The Gospel Choir and Tommy Tee & Company Music Group
